Cattle Baron of Las Cruces Cattle Baron underwent major renovations in the year 2000. As part of the effort to bring this traditional style steak and seafood restaurant into the new millennium more than just new paint and knick-knacks were put into this four star restaurant. Since this was a previously existing lighting scheme lighting control was a challenge. This challenge was met with flying colors, by Lutron’s Grafik Eye series. This automated lighting system allows for fully automated light level control to be easily integrated into the existing lighting installation. With little change in the actual hard wiring of the lighting circuits, the Lutron system gave Cattle Baron the flexibility and control that they needed. Once the Grafik Eye system is installed and programmed it uses Global Positioning to determine time of day and location. With this information the system can then be set to change lighting levels at different times of day, for instance lunch and dinner, and will adjust those lighting levels to compensate for changes in the outside conditions, for instance sunset. This feature along with adjustable light level fade times will set and maintain a light level suitable for the mood of the time of day, brighter at lunch and lower at dinner. With adjustable fade times the light level changes are imperceptible to the human eye. All these features are cared for automatically by the system with no need for daily adjustment by management. If for some reason, like a special event that might be planned in the restaurant, the lighting levels must be changed manually this can be done at one of a number of touchpads located throughout the restaurant. Along with the complete change of all lighting fixtures, Cattle Baron also updated their salad bar and kitchen equipment. By taking advantage of changes in technology Cattle Baron greatly improved the electrical efficiency of their kitchen while improving the quality of service to the customer as well. Cattle Baron truly is a good example of how atmosphere can enhance your dining experience. From the music playing in the background, to the precisely set lighting levels, to the history of the old west cattle trade that is reflected in the architecture as well as pictorially throughout the restaurant, a pleasant dining experience is the goal.
